Go All In

By: Allie Baumgarten

They just waltzed on up there. I could almost feel their confidence across the lake. I heard them repeat the “1, 2, 3, Jump” cycle again and again. 1, feel the fullness of the adrenaline rush, where your heart beats so fast and so hard it feels as if your entire body is pulsing with it. 2, you've got this. 3, at least I hope you do.

...jump.

You're brave. You're strong. You're gifted beyond measure. But maybe you're also a little anxious & fearful & uncertain, like I am tonight. But you need to know, like I do, that this fear, anxiety, and uncertainty won't ever be what keeps you from playing the game. Your pounding heart and those pesky butterflies in your stomach aren't disqualifying you, they're preparing you. You may not stick the landing, but you need to know, like I do, that the jump will always be worth it.

I decided it would be worth it long ago, even if it meant bruises and scars, because to truly live fully and live well is to know that while fear and pain are inevitable, the result will be freedom. Every step of the process will somehow find a way to remind you that your bravery, your strength, and your gifts are not your own. And I want to remind you that this is a good thing. Your bravery, your strength, and your gifts belong to God. He made you, and he has you. So as you endure every "1, 2, 3," and before you plummet into the waters, remember you've got this because he's got you.

And then jump.
